America's Next Great Inventor

Are you America’s next great inventor? Shearer’s Foods, Inc., and The National Museum of Education are offering the third year of the competition called The Shearer Perfection Student Contest to encourage students in grades 4-8 to demonstrate their creativity and ingenuity by creating an invention that incorporates the use of one or more of the Shearer potato chip bags.

This contest is open to entrants from the state of Ohio and from the Pittsburgh, PA area. Three finalists will be brought to Massillon, Ohio, where the Grand Prize Winner will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in June 2016. The Grand Prize Winner will receive $2500 , the 2nd place winner will receive $1000 and the 3rd place winner will receive $500 . The teacher/mentor of the Grand Prize Winner will receive a gift card, as well.

How to become a National Semi-finalist:

  • Young Inventors must be students in grades 4 to 8 for the school year 2015-2016.
  • Original inventions must incorporate the use of Shearer’s potato chip bags.
