George Q. Keegan names Thomas Alva Edison as his hero and freely speaks of his admiration for this innovative American inventor. The passion that George has shown for engaging new generations with Edison's brilliance has been nothing short of phenomenal! We applaud his creative efforts in beginning a new PBS series (soon to be released) called "The Adventures of Young Thomas Edison". These episodes and accompanying books are intended to draw connections between Edison's original inventions and current-day equivalents. Students will be charmed by the quality production of animation while learning science, history and problem-solving.
Furthermore, under George's direction, the Edison Innovation Foundation became a major partner with the National Museum of Education including sponsorship of our National Gallery for America's Young Inventors. He has honored these young people greatly by awarding each the Edison Innovation Young Inventors Award. George also intrigued the audience at the 2007 Induction Ceremony with his generous display of genuine Edison artifacts, including live phonograph recordings on antique wax cylinders produced directly from Edison's warehouse and factory.
George Q. Keegan has served as the Executive Director for both the Edison Innovation Foundation and the Edison Preservation Foundation. Under his leadership, the Edison National Historic Site in Orange, New Jersey has also flourished. Additionally, he is currently administering the Edison Innovation Awards, the world's premier recognition of achievement in innovation.
George exemplifies this spirit of education and invention and we recognize his outstanding contribution to educating America's youth in innovation.
